"Leave me alone!" I said, maybe a little too loud.
She chase after me. "I'm sorry! I told you I pr-" I cut her off abruptly "Oh, do shut up. I know perfectly well that's a lie." She opened her mouth to retort but decided against it, so I continued. "Why did you even try to lie, you've been doing this for the past few years but this time I had enough!"
"If you were so upset, why didn't you say anything earlier?" was her answer.
"I pretended not to notice, I've been keeping my eyes closed to your atittude towards me. I'd smile and nod, sometimes thanking you for bothering... However, now I can't, and I won't! Not anymore." I was venting all out on her. "I never forgot about you, you know? There wasn't a holiday or a celebration that I wouldn't think about how you'd like this or that."
She slumped her shoulders in defeat. "I know, that's why I feel terrible..."
We kept quiet for a while: neither of us sure of what to say next.
She was the one who broke the silence. "I guess it's not the same anymore."
I looked down, avoiding to see what I've known for a while. "No, it isn't."
"I'm sorry... For everything you deem it to be."
I chuckled. "Yeah. See you around."
And so we went our separated ways.
